It finally happened: your organization has decided to modernize the access request experience for your users.

This transition can seem like a daunting task, but with the right technical partners, it doesn’t need to be.

In this post we will explore SailPoint’s recent launch of new features and functions that enhance the ServiceNow Catalog Integration Module experience. I will also demonstrate how SailPoint and ServiceNow work together, along with tips, tricks, and best practices to help you be successful at the speed of your business.

SailPoint and ServiceNow are deeply integrated, with certified applications built on the ServiceNow platform. Together, they bring you more seamless end user experiences, lifecycle automation, identity management, and other features you need to tackle those ever-present audits. Let’s look at these integrations:

Identity Governance Connector is a free, powerful integration that enables more seamless account and entitlement management between SailPoint Identity Security Cloud and ServiceNow. With this connector, you can automate the creation of users in ServiceNow, request and revoke ServiceNow user permissions, and conduct user access reviews and certifications. This helps ensure that users have the right access at the right time. No just-in-time cleanup for licensing true ups. No scrambling to run reports and understand who has what.

Service Desk Integration Module bridges the gap between governance and action by enabling automated ticketing for provisioning activities that require manual intervention. It integrates SailPoint's identity capabilities with ServiceNow’s platform, helping organizations manage user access efficiently while improving compliance and security.

Service Catalog Integration Module has been enhanced with over 15 modular widgets. The re-architecture has a native ServiceNow experience and includes new features for both requestors and users. It simplifies the end user request experience, while eliminating technical and innovation debt for your organization. End users are empowered to request access directly from ServiceNow with fulfillment managed by SailPoint – no coding required. Out-of-the-box widget and page-based experiences meet you where you are, letting you decide how to use it versus decide how to build it.

Best of all, you can find all of them on the ServiceNow Store. (Request a free trial of our Service Desk and Service Catalog integrations today!) This is an excellent, risk-free opportunity to discover how SailPoint and ServiceNow can support your organization’s objectives. I also encourage you to check out this ‘Better Together’ journey, where I walk you through the platform and we review a day in the life of three user roles. It’s another way to get a feel for what you can accomplish.

Now that you are ready to explore how SailPoint and ServiceNow can be “Better Together” with your organization, let’s talk about some best practices and guidance for success:

  • This effort isn't going to be accomplished by the security or service team alone. Both will have parts in this, so make sure you include your counterparts early so they can collaborate with you.
  • While it isn't a requirement, I encourage you to storyboard out your end users’ request experience. Think through the details and the scenarios. For example, are there aspects of the access your end users will be requesting that may require guidance?
  • Who will need to approve access requests? Is there a preference for where those approvals are performed?
  • Where does audit information need to reside?
  • Are there key dates this is needed by? If so, what does a minimum viable product look like?
  • Who are your stakeholders? i.e. who needs to say “Yes,” and who can say “No”?
  • What does success look like, and how will it be measured?

Reach out to our team for a risk-free assessment, consultation, and demo. We will meet you where you are, guiding you through this journey from the ground up. We will continue sharing tips and tricks, helping to put you on the fast track to results and “hero status” within your organization. We are here to help & guide you, together.
