How to get community-based developer support when building your unique identity security program

This summer, the SailPoint Developer Relations team attended DevRelCon in New York City. The technical community is an important audience for SailPoint, and we are dedicated to providing access to the tools and resources developers need to successfully extend SailPoint solutions for their unique and complex use cases. We also facilitate peer engagement so that idea sharing flows freely.

The team came back from DevRelCon with new projects in mind, but we also wanted to highlight some of the ways our developer community can get started today to find answers to common development issues. Sound interesting? Keep reading to learn more.

The SailPoint Developer Community is for everyone

“The SailPoint Developer Community is a place for anyone who solves real-world identity security problems,” says Derek Putnam, Community Manager at SailPoint. “You do not need to write code in your daily capacity or have a technical title. Our users represent a wide variety of role types: IT Admin, Application Owner, Security/Solutions Architect, Software Engineer, Business Intelligence, Security/Identity Analyst, Identity Engineer, and more.”

“The IT landscape is changing, and virtually every role today does some level of development,” says Jordan Violet, Head of Developer Relations at SailPoint. “With a shift from centralized to democratized development in the community and the availability of no-code/low-code options, being a programming expert isn’t always required to extend the SailPoint platform and build the tailored solutions you need for your business. No matter your level of expertise, our extensibility options are for everyone. If you put your hands on a keyboard to solve problems in identity, our developer community is for you.”

Two-way collaboration: Resources making it easier for you to build to your needs

At SailPoint we spend a significant amount of time co-innovating with customers and partners to build a platform that solves for enterprise identity security, one that is easy to build on and customize to fulfill specific requirements. We recognize the technical community in their critical role in executing and maintaining this versatility.

Colin McKibben, Lead Developer Advocate at SailPoint, says, “You understand your unique landscape; things like knowing the applications in your environment, your strategy for executing certification campaigns, when to automate versus using a manual approach, and recognizing which threats to solve first. Our tools will help you do these things faster and with more resiliency, and you can also connect with other users who are solving problems like yours.”

Join us in person at Navigate

This year an entire day at Navigate is dedicated to the developer community. Developer Lab sessions are designed to help developers get started in building integrations between SailPoint and any existing IT landscape. Developers will build and collaborate in real-time, expanding knowledge around CI/CD, connectivity, and workflows. And a sneak peek! Participate in alpha testing for unreleased, potential product features. All knowledge levels are welcome, and the sessions are free.

Navigate 2024 takes place October 21 – 24 in Orlando, FL, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Spots are limited – grab yours now!
