Giving back SailPoint style: how our team got creative with philanthropy in 2022
One of the things I admire most about our crew is the dedication I see in team members across the business—dedication to helping our customers, supporting each other, and giving back to our communities.
2022 saw a massive outpouring of community giving from our team. Every. Single. Day.
Thanks to the efforts of crew members worldwide, we raised thousands of dollars for Red Cross Ukraine disaster relief efforts and donated to 111 non-profit organizations across five countries on Giving Tuesday while continuing to support our long-time philanthropy partners across the world.
Some of our favorite traditions here at SailPoint are built around raising awareness about the causes that matter most to our team. Each year we host the SailPoint “Sailanthropitch,” modeled after Philanthropitch (think Shark Tank for Good!). During this fun competition, our crew members nominated their favorite charities to deliver a presentation highlighting the organization’s impact on its community. We gathered in December to hear our team pitch and voted to determine how much money each organization would receive from the SailPoint Gives Back fund. We learned about causes we didn’t know about. We got inspired. We even shed some tears.
And the best part: Each of the finalists walked away with a substantial donation to their organization. Plus, we all learned about organizations in need of support.
Our team also volunteered “sweat equity” to organizations with long-standing connection to SailPoint. Last year, we spent time with Austin Habitat for Humanity’s ReStores, which builds homes for underserved communities, and Urban Roots Farm, which supports local fresh food gardens for donation to hunger relief agencies. Some folks even raced kayaks to raise money for Explore Austin.
Threaded through our organization is a passion for supporting great causes – not just in Austin but across the globe.
In 2020, we formally established the SailPoint Gives Back Foundation (SGB). Initially seeded personally by Mark McClain, our CEO and Founder, alongside the company, the foundation drives ongoing, meaningful financial support to our communities. SGB Foundation also enables our SailPoint crew members to have their philanthropic contributions stretch even further with donor matching.
There are so many instances of how our team gives back (this year, we even had some brave crew members rappel off a downtown high rise to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation—yikes!). But really, what I’m most looking forward to is how we’ll continue to scale these efforts and perpetuate a culture dedicated to giving back to our communities, putting others first, and making a meaningful impact.
