Flinders University builds an identity program for higher education
Flinders University is a technical research university in southern Australia, with a broad program in science, engineering, humanity, law, medicine, nursing, and defense research. With over 26,102 students and 2,600 staff Flinders has a record of excellence and innovation in teaching, research, and community engagement.
Challenge
The University was retiring its legacy identity warehouse as it was no longer supported and required substantial maintenance. They needed everyone, including administrative and privileged users, to be provisioned properly, on time, and entitled to have that access. They were also looking for an identity solution that would align with their cloud-first strategy.
Solution
Partnering with SailPoint, Flinders enabled their entire staff and student body to get back to work and study during COVID quickly. Having identity security in place allowed them to put protocols in place within a week, and in some cases, the first day. Moving away from their costly legacy solution to a cloud model, additional security controls were rapidly put in place to be able to operate in pandemic world where people should be able to have access from non-traditional locations.
With SailPoint, we now have a solution that also is harmonious with our cloud-first strategy.
